Veterinary Services
Early Puppy and Kitten Care
A pet is most vulnerable to medical issues when they are young. Our puppy and kitten care is designed to provide preventive care and vaccinations, so they stay healthy during their important developmental years.
Wellness Care
Having routine medical examinations ensures that your pet is at their healthiest at that stage of life. We offer routine checks and diagnostic testing to determine any medical abnormalities that could cause sickness or other medical problems.
Senior Pet Care
As your pet grows older, they are more susceptible to developing chronic medical issues that require long-term treatment. We provide additional veterinary services to address age-specific medical conditions.
Diagnostic Evaluations
Diagnostic testing, X-rays, and other laboratory services allow us to evaluate your pet to determine what the medical problem is so we can develop the right care plan. We have in-house laboratory testing equipment, so you do not have to go to a different facility for your pet to receive testing.
Parasite Treatments
Parasitic organisms can create a range of medical issues, including heart disease and end of life. Our veterinary practice treats external and internal parasites to prevent minor and major medical conditions in your dogs and cats.
Elective and Emergency Surgery
As a full-service animal hospital, we perform surgery to address immediate medical issues, such as tumors, soft tissue damage, and abdominal conditions. We also perform elective surgeries, such as spaying and neutering, for your pets.
Pet Dental Care
Treating animals also includes providing oral services to address teeth and gum issues. We offer dental examinations, teeth cleanings, and surgeries to promote good oral health for your pets.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are designed to boost the immune system to protect against diseases as well as to reduce symptoms of certain illnesses. We provide both core vaccinations and non-core vaccinations for pets.
These are just some of the medical care services that we offer to pets of all ages and breeds. Learn more in-depth information about our services by checking out our services page or by calling our office directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Are Veterinary Services Important?
Our companion animals often cannot tell us directly what is the problem. They may show no signs of any illness or disease until the problem progresses to the point where it can become difficult to treat. The first time you may suspect some issue is when they stop eating or become listless. Obtaining routine veterinary care can help provide a clearer picture regarding the present health condition of your dog, cat, bird, rabbit, or other animal. Getting your pet healthy and maintaining their health are very important practices for our veterinary center. We want to ensure that every animal gets the utmost care for their entire life.
Also, there are some breeds that are susceptible to certain specific conditions, such as leukemia, sinus problems, ear problems, heart diseases, and hip problems. Our wellness programs help address these problems and develop continual medical plans that make daily life easier for your pet. In addition, we provide a wealth of pet resources for first-time owners to understand their furry companions better and help prepare them regarding their pet’s medical journeys.
When Should My Pet Get Veterinary Services?
You should take your pet to the veterinary center the moment you obtain them. The vet can perform a medical examination to help determine your pet’s current medical status. Then, both you and your vet can decide on the best veterinary schedule based on the examination’s findings.
Most cats and dogs can visit the vet when reaching the age of 8 weeks to 10 weeks. Then the veterinarian will schedule your pet to receive their core and non-core vaccinations during this time up until they reach a year old. Once your pet enters adulthood, they may go for yearly to twice yearly examinations based on their medical history. As they grow older, these examinations could occur more frequently.
Every pet breed is different when it comes to their medical health. Your veterinarian will offer the best advice regarding when your pet should receive certain services. We develop wellness programs based on your pet’s needs and adjust these plans when necessary if their conditions change.
What Animals Do You Treat?
We treat dogs and cats. If you have a pet that you are unsure whether we treat, call our office today. We may still offer medical services or direct you to a clinic that specializes in your pet’s needs.
In addition to your home pet, we also treat lost or stray animals in our office. It is important to treat animals that have been outside for many days, weeks, and even months since they may acquire certain medical conditions or diseases that can be spreadable to your household pets. If you find a stray animal, contact Barnes Lake Veterinary Center. We can perform examinations, spays/neutering, and medical treatments for the animal. In addition, people who have lost their pets may call our office asking if someone had brought the animal in for medical care. We can scan for chips or inform the pet owner that their animal has been found.
